The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident on their Twitter platform saying that a section of the market is on fire. Response teams have been deployed at the moment.

Cause of fire is yet to be established. This is the first time this year the market is on fire.
Gikomba market, the biggest open-air market in the country, has suffered numerous fires recently that even caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The government has been accused of dragging its feet when trying to establish the cause of the infernos. Many have linked the fires to arsonists. These past incidents have seen traders lose goods worth millions.
